While Android users are still busy getting their hands dirty with the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, that is currently used only in 1% of all Android devices, Google is again ready for an upgrade. Yes, from updated sources its known that the next version of Android OS after Ice Cream Sandwich will be nicknamed “Jelly Bean”. So all Android lovers, lets get ready for another desert treat from Google.

Jelly Bean may debut with Asus

Though nothing is yet announced officially, most probably Asus is going to debut the Android 5.0 Jelly Bean. Benson Lin, who is an Asus executive for smartphones devices, has disclosed in a report to Techradar that “Asus is very close to Google, so once they have Android 5.0 I think there will be a high possibility that we will be the first wave to offer the Jelly Bean update”. Asus was also first to provide the Ice Cream Sandwich OS on its Transformer Prime Tablet.

“Key Lime Pie”, coming as the successor of “Jelly Bean”

Again the latest buzz is about the sixth version of Android OS which will be the successor of “Jelly Bean”, could be named as “ Key Lime Pie”. It’s quoted by Chris Ziegler, a blogger from www.theverge.com, that “ We’ve been tipped by a reliable source today that Google will be using the name “Key Lime Pie” for the version of Android that comes afterJelly Bean(in fact, the information comes from the very same source that tipped us to the Jelly Bean code name last year)”. It’s even assumed that the “KLP” may be introduced some where in 2013. So to taste the delicious desert from Google, we all have to wait till that period.

So far Google has already brought out seven different versions of the Android OS, all of which are named after some deserts. These are Cupcake(1.5), Donut(1.6), Eclair(2.1), Froyo(2.2), Gingerbread(2.3), Honeycomb(3.0) and finally the Ice Cream Sandwich(4.0). Lets see whether these speculations about “Jelly Bean” and “Key Lime Pie” come true.

Since the Android market took off, Motorola has been busy developing various Google operating system powered tablet PCs and smartphones, implemented with some of the amazing features. Now the company has come up with another Android Tablet PC, which features a unique ability to withstand liquid from penetrating the internal components.

It was almost same time of the year, when the company released their first mega device to compete against Apple Inc. in an attempt to make the make Motorola Xoom a true iPad killer. The device was even awarded with Best of Show award in CES 2011, however, due to a hefty pricing the device wasn’t able to become a full fledged iPad killer, unless the competition was taken over by other Android counterparts developed by Samsung and other manufacturers.

This Android Tablet comes in four variants with an 8.2 inch and a 10.1 inch, both with Wi-Fi only version and Verizon-exclusive 4G versions that cost $399.99, $429.99, $499.99, $529.99 respectively, which is almost $300 lesser than Motorola Xoom for a full featured Droid Xyboard.

The new Droid Xyboard features a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor combined with 1GB RAM running with Android Honeycomb OS. Though, the tablet is packed with a whole lot of powerful combination of Software and hardware, it lacks the fluidity with it’s Blurring, when compared to Samsung’s TouchWiz UX.

However, to cover up with the lacks, Motorola has bundled the box with a stylus, but engadget.com Associate Editor Joseph Volpe disappointingly mentions that the inclusion of the stylus doesn’t makes hopes high. Nevertheless, since the quad-core tablet from ASUS is ready to enter the market, it’s a big question, whether the Droid Xyboad can survive the cold war between Android Tablet PCs.

It’s a known fact that Orange Telecom is the fifth largest telecom operator in the world, obviously the company offered a range of tariffs and packages for it’s subscribers bundled with low end to high end phones, tablet PCs and the company even had it’s own flagship phones, however there was no flagship tablet PC, but now Orange Telecom UK has made it possible with the launch of the new Orange’s Tahiti Android Tablet PC, which is considered to be one of the affordable Android tablet PCs available, especially in the UK.

The company has equipped this device with a whole lot of features, making it capable giving neck to neck with other top contenders in the category. Tahiti Android Tablet PC comes with a 7 inch TFT display that makes it easy to carry along. The powerful 1.2 Ghz Qualcomm processor, combined with Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system unleashes the capability of converting this little gadget in to an all in one Android tablet PC that can help in business as well as personally. Unfortunately, this device can only be used under 24 months contract subscription to an Orange connection. For just £69.99 with a £25 monthly rental, Orange Tahiti will be yours and you can enjoy 1 GB data and 1 GB Quite time, along with unlimited BT OpenZone public WiFi access.

Specification and features of Orange Tahiti:

Dimension: 124 mm (w) x 190 mm (l) x 10.5 mm (h)
Operating System: Android 3.2 Honeycomb
Display: 7-inch (17.8 cm) TFT touchscreen with accelerometer
Processor: 1.2 Ghz Qualcomm processor
Camera: 5 MP
Multimedia: Music Player, Video Playback and Java capable for enhanced user experience
Connectivity: Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, 3G+ HSDPA, A-GPS with GPS navigation, dual band, WiFI
Box content: Headset, Battery, User Guide and a charger

Weighing just under 400 grams, Tahiti isn’t slimmest in the category but Orange claims that the battery equipped with the device is capable of 6 hours power backup under normal circumstances. For such a low price bundled with huge benefits and features, Orange Tahiti is certainly one of the cheapest Android Tablet PCs available in the UK telecommunication market.

Finally, HTC Rezound’s specifications and other details are out for the public, making it harder for the Android fans to wait to have one of those beasts. As everyone know, from the time the first version of Android mobile Operating System was released the war inside the smartphone and tablet PC markets has heated up like never before, though the competition in the tablet PC market isn’t much of a thrill, since the tablet manufacturers expertise in their own way in developing the device, but the smartphone market is not any similar. The top players in the sector are acting as the iPhone killers, alongside competing against their own counter parts powered by Android.

It isn’t be long since the release of Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus, which is the second Google flagship device with the company powered by a massive Dual Core Processor with 1.2GHz and a 1GB RAM. But, it seems that HTC, who manufactured the Google Nexus One, which was the first Google flagship device doesn’t like the tieup, thus has decided to introduce it’s own flagship model “HTC Rezound” powered by a monstrous 1.5 GHz Dual Core Processor combined with 1GB of RAM.

That’s not all, HTC has made the Samsung Galaxy Nexus to bow in all aspect, may it be a minute or a featured functionality, the Rezound has the answer like for example, even the front camera is a 2 MP one in HTC where the Samsung has a 1.3 MP camera for video calling, as per the specifications listed in GSM Arena.

Below are the specifications of the new Rezound by GSM Arena:

Display: 4.3 inches Multi-touch screen with 720 x 1280 pixels
Camera: 8 MP primary and 2 MP secondary (front) cameras 1080P video recording with stereo recording
Processor: Dual-core 1.5 GHz Scropion processor with Qualcomm MSM 8660 Snapdragon chipset, Adreno 220 GPU
Memory: Internal 16 GB+1 GB RAM and external memory expandable upto 32 GB with microSD card
Battery: Li-Ion 1620 mAh standard battery
Ports: microUSB (MHL) v2.0, 3.5mm audio jack with SRS WOW HD audio enhancement
Connectivity: DLNA, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot, Class 13 3G with Rev. A, up to 3.1 Mbps, A2DP v3.0 bluetooth

The above specifications seems enough to compete against a decently equipped Android Tablet PC, however, the real tallent of the device comes to light only when it on sale expected to be released early next year, maybe in the first quarter of 2012, if everything goes according to the company’s plan. We’re really waiting to test it in our hands, maybe every single Android fan will be for sure.

GameSpot being one of the top retail vendors selling top class games has finally entered a completely new sector by selling customized Android Tablets specifically designed for gaming. Though, the tablet PCs are not completely branded with their name, the gaming retailer has outfitted the devices with high performance accessories to transform the tablets in to a complete gaming device.

Currently, GameSpot has customized and offering three tablet PCs, the Acer Iconia Tab A100 with a 7 inch display, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Asus Eee Pad Transformer each with 10.1 inch screens priced at $329, $499 and $399 respectively. Each of these tablets are bundled with six titles, Cordy, Re-Load, Riptide GP, Dead Space, Sonic CD and Monster Madness are among them. Additionally, the retailer has included the Kongregate Arcade Android app, which they acquired last year to enhance the gaming experience, where the application provides access to more than 500 games to the users and allows them to compete against other users and share their view and reviews on their favourite games through this portal.

GameSpot has finally come up with an idea of providing a huge list of gaming titles to it’s consumers, where they will be saving a whole lot of money that they usually spend on gaming consoles. Though, iPad and Android Tablets are of different platforms, thanks to the games retailer for bringing these mobile devices added with great features. However Tony Bartel, President of GameSpot still believes that the game consoles will still remain the preferred choice of the core gamers, since they are specifically designed for gaming purpose and the Tablet PC developed for gaming purpose are modified to perform better than the original ones, they can’t meet the performance of the game consoles.

Thus, if people are looking for a multi-tasking device that helps in relaxing, yet assist in completing the profession tasks, then GameSpot altered Android Devices are the ones to choose. However, this isn’t surely recommended for those who wants to play a basic game like Angry Bird or similar ones, but worth every penny for regular gamers.

Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus has become the talk of the town, after being unveiled last week in Hong Kong along with Google’s Android 4 or Ice Cream Sandwich OS. Now the latest news is that the smartphone will come to the market integrated with the faster 4G Long-Term Evolution/Evolved connectivity as announced by Verizon. But unfortunately nothing is disclosed regarding the release date and the price of Galaxy Nexus. Only we know as of now is it’ll come sometime later this year. That’s what Verizon has stated.

It is also coming to news that the smartphone could also be sold by other major carriers like Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T. This news has apparently been proven as the registration page for Galaxy Nexus on Samsung’s website provides the user for different carrier choices including many other regional carriers. So as of now everything seems a bit confusing regarding the price, release date or who’s going to carry the Galaxy Nexus. But we hope things would be cleared very soon.

Features of Galaxy Nexus

We already know that Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus is going to debut Google’s feature-rich Ice Cream Sandwich OS, which is an integration of Ginger Bread and Honeycomb. It also has many interesting features like a Holographic User Interface, Face Unlock, Android Beam, Inbuilt Camera App and Widget Management. So with Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus we can get all the benefits of Ice Cream Sandwich OS.

The other specs include 4.65-inch High-Definition Super AMOLED screen with 1,280/720 resolution, a 1,750mAh battery, 1.2GHz dual-core Arm Cortex A9 processor, 1 GB RAM and dual cameras with zero shutter lag.

As we all know, Google’s Android market is growing in an ever expanding manner since its birth in 2005 and has proved itself to be one of the best selling markets in 2011. Literally speaking, Android is outselling all other major brands in the smartphone and tablet markets worldwide. Recently comScore Inc., a leading digital market research firm has disclosed some interesting facts after evaluating the future growth rates of the smartphone market in five major European countries. As the report says, nearly one in every four users in these countries are using Android based smartphones. Isn’t it amazing? So here we have rounded up the three most popular Android devices that have hit the market this year.

1. Samsung Galaxy S2

We would give a first position to this ultra slim and sexy smartphone that is only 8.5 mm thick. The main attraction of this smartphone is its 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touchscreen that gives it superior readability and far better power consumption than its predecessors. Another feature is an 8-megapixel camera integrated with Flash which supports HD video recording in 1080p. That means it’ll give you the most enriching video experience available with a smartphone. It will also support 4G, yielding you a data speed that is four times faster than its main rival iPhone 5.

2. Motorola Droid Bionic

Though a little heavy on the price side, the Droid Bionic comes second in our list. This first 4G LTE smartphone by Motorola can only be the perfect choice for those who keep up a busy schedule in their life. The Motorola Droid Bionic comes with some robust features like a dual-core 1GHz processor and 1GB of RAM for super lightning speed, a 4.3-inch qHD display with Gorilla Glass touchscreen, the preloaded ZumoCast app for secured remote file access, and the first ever webtop application that lets you access your phone on your PC or a HD TV. It also offers you a very good battery life.

3. Motorola Xoom

Again Motorola has taken the cake with its super powerful Xoom tablet. The Motorola Xoom is powered by a 1GHz dual core Nvidia Tegra processor and Google’s Honeycomb 3.1 that is specially designed for big screen Android tablets. It comes with a wide 10.1- inch HD display with flash support, ultra-fast Wi-Fi connectivity, front and rear facing camera and a microphone. It also has a long battery life of up to 10 hrs. In fact Motorola Xoom is the first tablet in the market that can be considered as a true alternative to the iPad. So it won’t be unjustified to call it the next gen evolutionary step in the tablet platform.

The Eee Pad Slider Android Tablet PC from Asus was showcased by the company way back in the CES 2011 held in January this year making an announcement with an expected release date on May, however, it was later postponed to August release without any progress till day, it has suddenly been updated by the internal sources that the tablet will be on the retail market not later than September. Though, the exact date of release is not yet announced by the company, this time the launch can be confirmed since there are some specifications of the tablet posted by the device manufacturer on their official website.

According to the specifications posted on the AsusTeK website, tThe tablet PC officially named the Eee Pad Slider SL101 is definitely has the edgey features to boost the sales opposing the rivals both with the design wise as well as performance wise. The tab comes with the slider feature enhancing the convenient usability for the users by unveiling a complete different look of the device providing the access to a full QWERTY keyboard acting alternatively as a stand. Currently, it’s the only Android slider Tablet announced in the market, yet the exact release date is not officially announced. However, the tablet is packed with high end features, most importantly like the NVIDIA Tegra 2 1.0 GHz dual-core processor to excel HD video playback and multitasking, installed Android 3.1 Honeycomb OS know to be the tablet only operating system that can be upgraded to Android 3.2 combined with superior SRS speakers with max bass response provides a whole new experience of entertainment on the move.

Other features include the IPS panel from Corning Gorilla glass for durability and scratch-resistance, Wireless LAN 802.11 b/g/n@2.4GHz and Bluetooth V2.1+EDR, 25Wh Li-Polymer Battery capable of running 8 hours, one each of USB 2.0, Mini HDMI, Card Reader : Micro SD, Audio Jack (Mic-In/Headphone) and front, rear cameras with 1.2 and 5 MP respectively weighing around 960 grams.

With a whole lot of features, a decent pricing of the device will surely monopolize the tablet market and the unique concept of slider feature is a plus, at least when there are no other similar devices available in the market or even yet be announced. Ausu should consider releasing the tablet as early as possible to taste the fruitful days, before it’s someone else’s chance.
